My new home is McDowell Village, a community for seniors! I've been here for about six months. To say it has taken adjustments is an understatement. But, it is home now, I've made many new acquaintances and friends! This is how I met my three new BFF!
One of the biggest adjustments for me was meal time. Two meals a day are provided and I selected breakfast and dinner in the evening. The catch is you are seated with other residents, people you don't necessarily know and that are not acquainted with you either. For me, very uncomfortable.
I kept requesting seating alone, that didn't go over well with the hosts, it put a wrench in their overall plan in the dining room. I just wanted a couple of weeks to where I felt I wasn't the fish out of water and then just maybe I would be ready!
Then one morning I had just arrived to have breakfast, the hostess was about to seat a couple of other ladies one of them looked at me and said, come, join us! I have had breakfast with them every morning since! I don't recall much about our conversations that morning, but laughter was a big part of it.
We really have become BEST FRIENDS!
